They're done! 2 Penguin costumes are in the mail on their way to Alabama to two twin two-year olds for halloween. I sure hope they, and their parents like them, and that they fit. I think they're cute. Here's a picture of one finished. I should have pictures of the girls in them this weekend.
(and I know I've already posted these pictures of the hood but I wanted to post the whole costume together.)
Since I had a bit more penguin scrap leftover I decided to make a postcard as a giveaway! This is Floyd the Florida penguin. He's come out to play because it's been in the 40s this week at night... in Florida...in October...
...but it won't stay that way for long so Floyd is looking for a new home, maybe yours! Leave a comment to this post and on Monday I will randomly pick a new home for Floyd from those who entered. Make sure to leave an email or link so that I can contact you in case you're the winner! Good luck!
Answer: I don't know, but don't try to fix its bowtie!

Floyd is super cute! I am in central Florida too :) I found you through sew mama sew.
I love all your penguin stuff - Natalie's birthday thing is so darn cute!!! You should make one with an airplane and accidentally leave it in Tampa ;) (Yes, I would dress up an airplane! lol)

Floyd is adorable - count me in for the give-away! :)
And I second Wendi's comment - I can't wait to see pictures of your nieces in their costumes!!!
So cute! My mama made one for my 3 year old and added fringe on the hood so he would look like Cody Mavrick of Surfs Up. He loves it! I'd love to have your little postcard. Thanks for sharing your work.
I want the penguin costume.....
But I know I won't be as cute as your nieces.
Thank you for leaving a comment on my new blog. That was very kind. You asked about posting pictures--unfortunately I don't have a camera just yet. I will be getting one as an early Christmas present and will start posting pictures after that. Now that the penguin costumes are done, what do you think you will be working on next? I'm going to think about posting a 'sewing plan' or at least a list of projects I want to complete for 2009. Maybe that will help keep me on track!
He's sooo cute!! My mom LOVES penguins....she had a "couple" in the front lawn for years. The other night one got stolen :-( if I win this little guy I'll give it to her to make her smile!
Wow, the costumes came out great! I can't wait to see what they look like on the girls. (I'm sure you'll have some pictures :P ) Count me in for the Floyd-raffle! That is a very cute and well-made use of scraps.
How very kind you were to compliment the signature on my blog. I really, really LOVE it. Michelle at Shabby Creations made it for me (for only $5!!!). I really, really like your idea of posting future projects once a week. I think I may use that idea and make it a weekly post.
I found your giveaway on the SewMamaSew Forum. My 4 yr old son was a penguin for Halloween as well, but his costume was not as elaborate as yours - I basically took an adult sweatshirt and added a white (towel) tummy and orange bow tie (his request), sewed on a hood, and modified the huge floppy sleeves to look more like wings. He loved it (he really loves penguins! esp the movie Happy Feet) and he got lotsa compliments at preschool yesterday at their little party. If we win, just send it to "Ayden."
