Give-away: Week 2

"A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song."
~Maya Angelou

For this week's Christmas give-away (don't forget I'm hosting a give-away every weekfrom now until Christmas), I'll be offering one of my favorite handmade bird ornaments from my previous post. This little guy to be exact:

I think the little tuft of black on his head gives him so much personality!

If you'd like to add him to your ornament collection, then just leave a comment on this post telling me about your favorite holiday decorations. It can be something that you hang yourself, something that you drive-by on your way to work or school that as soon as it goes up marks the start of the holiday season for you, or perhaps something that you traditionally drive out to see every year.

Tell me about your favorite decorations and you'll be entered to win the little birdie ornament. I'll gladly ship anywhere in the world if you're the randomly chosen entrant. Just post by midnight EST Friday Dec 5, for your chance to win. Be sure to include your email address or a link back to your own blog so that I can contact you if you win! The winner will be chosen in a random drawing and announced Saturday Dec 6 .

I look forward to reading all about your favorite holiday decorations!

Participant in Sew Mama Sew Give-away Day. Hop on over to sew mama sew for a list of all the participants.

edit: I've extended the dates of this giveaway to Dec 5th because of the huge list of participants! Thanks so much to everyone who's visited and entered!

ummm, forgot to let you know my favorite ornament. It's a plastic little red ball ornament my dh and I bought the first year we were married. We were poor and living in France and it had "joyeux noel" on it.

Every ornament on my tree tells a story - either because of where it's from or who gave it to me. It started with my parents collection and when I moved out my sister and I each picked 5 to start our own collections.

My favourite is my newest - a Christmas fairy from New Zealand which I got this spring on a trip there. It reminds me of my favourite holiday place and the Pacific, where I was born!

What a delightful little bird! My favorite decorations were made by my children when they were little - now they have gone to grace their trees.

I love those spiral trees that people have outside. I just saw a new version that I can't even explain that I just loved.

I really like this ornament a lot, so cool! I also love that quote by Maya. I never paid much attention to her. When she was on Oprah about her newest Daughter book, I just fell in love with her! Now I want to go back & get some of her books especially the daughter book. Such a wise woman!

Donna said...

I saw these in Martha . .very nice!!

I haven't seen my fav ornaments in years. Growing up, my best friend's mom was a Christmas fanatic, and had these santa statues that were intricate and beautiful and represented santas from around the world, and across history - she brought them out of storage in stages and it was always so exciting to see them emerge as the countdown to Christmas happened. I miss them!

I'd love to get the bird- for once. :)

Thank you for the drawing and for letting me enter.

My favorite decorations or the retro glass ornaments that I buy during the year at yard sales and thrift stores for the Christmas tree. I just took a closer look at one that I'd purchased at a summer Rotary Club yard sale, and saw it was an antique from West Germany.

Best wishes and Happy Holidays!

So beautiful! thanks for the chance.

I don't know if I have a favorite ornament. All the ones we have are handmade. Few were bought I guess from grandparents and greatgrandparents. So still have special memories. I just love hanging each one and remembering the story behind. And our kids are loving that too!

We choose a new ornament each year as a special one for our family. If I *had* to choose one as a favorite it would be my pregnant Snow Mama that was given to me while I was on bedrest with my first child.

Such a cute little birdie! My favorite holiday decoration is Festival of Lights in our nearby city. You can see them from the highway and they are just lovely to look at. You can walk through the festival also, but we haven't done this since before we had kids - maybe we'll try taking them this year!

My husband is a bird photographer (among other things). You might enjoy his blog and photo archive--just google "bird pics" and he'll come up.
Anyway, my favorite decorations are the ones I made as a kid. Last night my little boy, 2.5 years, hung up the painted walnut hanging from some yarn, with the masking tape label ("Charlene") yellowing. Thanks for extending your drawing!

I thought about trying those cinnamon ornaments, too, but with 3 kids and a baby, I don't think I'll get around to it this year. sigh.. Maybe in a couple of years I can try them.

My favorite ornament is a minature pewter piggy bank I picked up years ago. It reminded me of the piggy bank my dad has which is also pewter.

Ok, this one is easy. My favorite ornament is one that I picked up in a medieval town in Germany. It a little glittery snowman. Count me in on the give-away, the bird is darling.

My favorite ornament is a wooden Santa one I had growing up. It was small, no bigger than my hand as a child. What drew me to it was the soft material used to make his long beard. I remember taking it off the tree when I was little just so I could stroke the beard :)
